From Generation to Generation

I decided a few months ago that I was going to start a blog…. But what to write about. What would be worth my time writing about as well as entertaining or informative for others to actually read? I haven’t done or been through anything out of the ordinary nor am I creative enough or profound enough to make an ordinary life interesting enough to read.  I thought about doing an opinions or a political comparison blog, but realized that my thoughts on such topics are pretty straight and to the point and I would be spending more time researching trying to understand arguments that I wouldn't have much time to actually write what I found.
Finally, after several weeks of debating what to do it came to me. I was sitting in church and the speakers were talking about the great things their dads had given them. To be completely honest, I was having a hard time paying attention, so I let my mind wander.  As I was thinking on the subject I thought about the greatest thing my father gave me. Now as all you know my dad is the most amazing dad I've ever had, and he’s given me a lot over the years. To name a few, he's taken me on several wonderful family trips, paid for me to serve a full time mission, helped me pay for school, spent hours with me as a little girl struggling as I learned how to read, pushed me to do better and become more, brought the Priesthood into our home, and so much more! But as I was thinking about him I thought about his dad and my mom’s dad who both gave their children the greatest gift ever which my parent in turn gave to me. A love and faith in Jesus Christ. I thought about the gospel that my grandparents had taught my parents and the love they instilled in them which not only bless Tony and Paula but all their siblings and there kids.
But it didn't just start with my grandparents or even their parents.  For generations my ancestors have not only passed down genes that made me who I am physically, but ideas, faith, character and even flaws that have influenced who I am, my beliefs, and the choices that I have made. I have always looked up to those who came before me, amazed at their lives and abilities, feeling honored to be a part of their posterity.
So even though my life may not be worth reading about, theirs are. I hope that by sharing their life stories other members of my family, friends, and perhaps some strangers may find inspiration in their tales.
